Chutneys are one of favorite condiments in Indian food. Loved by one and all and consumed with any type of food from snacks of meals, chutneys can add color, flavor, and taste to any bland dish. Different types of chutneys are served with common snacks such as Samosas, Pakoras, Chaat, Cutlets etc.
The two most common and loved chutneys are the green (salty and spicy) and red (sweet) sauces. The recipe of green or mint-coriander chutney is given below. Make one or both these sauces and try them in small quantity if you are not sure of their flavor. But one thing is for sure, you are bound to get hooked!
Mint-Coriander Chutney
Perfect as a dipping sauce, you can even service it with main dishes such as biryani.
Ingredients:
A bunch of fresh mint leaves
A bunch of fresh coriander
6-7 cloves of garlic (depending on taste)
1? long ginger piece
2-4 green chillies
1 tsp sugar
� tsp. salt
2 tsp freshly squeezed lime juice
Cooking Method:
1. Snip of the roots from both the bunches
2. Peel the garlic cloves and clean the ginger piece
3. Remove stalks from green chillies
4. Put all ingredients in a blender, add salt, sugar, and lime juice
5. Grind to make a smooth paste
6. Remove in a bowl
7. Chill to serve
Green chutney can be refrigerated for up to 6-7 days.
